Below are just a few ways you can help

companion animals!

Using photos and descriptions from your local animal shelter website, create a newsletter and posters about animals looking for new homes.  Distribute to friends and neighbors, and animal-friendly stores/locations.

If you see a neighborhood dog tied outside constantly, ask a trusted to help you approach your neighbor.  Try to find out if the dog is friendly and if so, offer to walk the dog or provide play workouts!

Hold a bake sale featuring both people and pet treats* with the proceeds to benefit the animal shelter.

Hold a yard sale to benefit your local animal shelter!  Ask your parents, siblings, friends and neighbors to donate unwanted items to sell at the yard sale.

Throw an animal-themed birthday party for your animal-loving friends and family.  Instead of gifts, have guests bring donations for needy shelter animals.

Hold a Pet Fair day for your neighborhood.  Have games, hands-on activities, music, an educational puppet show, etc.  Collect money, treats, used linens and food for your local animal shelter.

Create care packets for shelter animals:  Use construction paper, stickers and string to create read-to-go photo albums; create cat toys out of small socks and catnip; bake homemade dog treats*; and/or make pet blankets out of fleece material.
