Paws Up!

To actress Hayden Panettiere, who stars in the NBC series Heroes.  She is leading a rally against the resumption of commercial whaling in Washington, DC on January 27. Following the event, Panettiere will speak with policymakers and students to encourage increased whale protection.

Panettiere is a spokesperson for the Save the Whales Again! campaign. She is asking the United States to take a stand for whales at the International Whaling Commission and take diplomatic action against whaling countries. After the rally, she will meet with representatives from the embassies of Japan, Norway and Iceland to discuss their outdated whaling practices.

Even though the American public has demonstrated increasing awareness and concern for protecting the world’s whale population, US leadership’s dedication to ensuring the safety of these gentle creatures has declined.  Save the Whales Again! and Hayden Panettiere’s hard work are not going unnoticed in the animal welfare community!
