Palin's Lack of Animal Welfare Policies

    Paws Down!

To Governor and vice president candidate Sarah Palin for her stance on animal welfare issues.

As governor of Alaska, Palin supports aerial hunting of Alaskan wolves because these animals prey on two of Alaska’s most hunted animals: moose and caribou. In 2007, she tried to enforce a $150 bounty for the left foreleg of each wolf killed. As a hunter herself, Palin is no friend of animals. Her disregard for nonhuman animals extends beyond her state-sanctioned aerial hunting policies.

    • She authorized the killing of 70% of all bears in an area west of Anchorage.
    • She sued the federal government to keep polar bears from being listed as an endangered species.
    • She supports the historically brutal Iditarod dogsled races.
    • Palin and her husband own a commercial fishing business.

If elected, let’s hope Palin leaves her animal welfare policies (or lack of) behind and adopts a new outlook on protecting animals while in D.C.  Contact Governor Sarah Palin and ask that she take a kinder, more humane stance on all animal welfare issues.
