Junior Girl Scout Troop 788 of Berkeley County, WV, went above and beyond for their Bronze Award service project to benefit NHES and its program service, the Briggs Animal Adoption Center (BAAC) located in Charles Town, WV.
At an amazing 51 volunteer hours per scout, this dedicated group of young ladies worked well over 600 total service hours! By project's end they had assisted NHES's local and national education outreach efforts,
written a member of our U.S. congress in support of wildlife protection legislation, provided important socialization for BAAC animals, and collected a truck-load of animal care items valued at $2500!
Troop 788's service project culminated with a family-friendly carnival in early May on the BAAC property. For an entrance "fee" of a donation of any type or value, carnival goers could play a variety of animal-themed games operated by the scouts, and purchase home-baked goods and lemonade. The girl scouts also used this opportunity to educate visitors about the benefits of animal adoption and encourage visits with the cats and dogs of the BAAC adoption center.
Our sincere gratitude and applause to the hardworking young ladies of Junior Girl Scout Troop 788 for their generosity, caring, and humane service! We wish Troop 788 the best of luck in earning their much deserved Bronze Award, and look forward these young ladies continuing to work on behalf of animals far into the future.
