HUMANE HEROES took kindness and caring to the next level. These campers spent two weeks learning about the many types of animals in the world and how we as people share it with them. With an emphasis on introducing animal welfare considerations and related careers, campers participated in a variety of games and drama, as well as BAAC cat and dog interaction to learn how they can help animals in the real world! Guest speakers and animal friends from a variety of backgrounds participated.

(Scroll over the images to learn more!)

Campers met many cats during the week, including this sweet BAAC kitten who is loved through an isolation room window.  During a stop in the vet room, a curious camper tries on the x-ray machine coat for fun!

BAAC canine Snuffy happily meets campers as they learn proper approach and petting.  Campers assist a visual exercise on pet overpopulation and the importance of spay/neuter.

Alapacs Marc Anthony and Casper greet campers and even share a few a   These two animal friends also help educate on the importance of feeding, grooming, and kindness to animals.

Farm Jeopardy tests camper knowledge and promotes humane consideration for farm animals.  This domestic rabbit was abandoned in local woods, but thankfully, was rescued by one of the campers!

Campers work on one of several projects: wildlife creations, comic books, cat adoption cards and more!  Three cheers for Hershey the Horse, rescued from pending cruelty in this camper-created comic book!

Jimmy, a friendly and hard-working fire investigation dog, prepares to demonstrate her skills: who has the drop of gasoline on their shoes?  The campers and Jimmy enjoy a silly photo-op!

Ferocious campers show off their wild features! During a game of Habitat, campers improvise anything from rocks and waves to various plants and animals to dramatize their wild lives.

As we rolled into the week's end, we hope the campers had fun and took home the importance of respect and kindess for all life.
