ANIMAL ADVOCATES had a glimpse of what it takes to make a positive difference for animals! After discovering neglected chained dogs in the "town" of the BAAC, campers worked on several options to resolve the situations. From investigation to advocacy to legislation, they had serious fun while taking positive action to help animals! Along the way, campers took part in a variety of learning activities that promote humane and responsible stewardship of animals. Guest speakers and animal friends from a variety of backgrounds also participated.

A game of Hopscotch to Legislation teaches about the difficult, but worthy path of passing a new law.  Animal Advocates Jeopardy gives campers a chance to review animal careers, cruelty situations, and legislation knowledge.

Back to work, campers share information about the cruelty of dog chaining learned through interviews with several BAAC professionals.  The information is pivotal in creating posters and fliers advocating legislation to ban dog chaining -- smile for the campaign party photo!

Campers petition in support of their anti-chaining legislation named after Wellington, a real former chain dog (pictured above).  Both NHES/BAAC staff and camper families show their support of the mock exercise and give these advocates-in-training opportunties to speak on behalf of animals.

NHES's very own, President Jim Taylor, is rallied on the importance of taking dogs off chains and bringing them indoors.  During the afternoon mock rally, a few potential adopters from the general public even pitch in their support of the camp event!

NHES President, Jim Taylor, signs HB 101 into law for each session:

Our congradulations and applause to all the campers for participating in Animal Advocates week!
