Since its founding in 1948, The National Humane Education Society (NHES) works daily to promote the humane treatment of animals, provide animal rescue and adoption services, and participate in other humane activities. In 2005, The Board of Directors of The National Humane Education Society (NHES) went on to create the NHES Alliance Partner Program, which works collaboratively with and provides major funding to a select group of other deserving humane organizations, including: Potomac Highland Animal Rescue (PHAR) Fern Wildlife Refuge (FWR) Mid-Atlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR)
