Time & Place: 10 a.m., Third Winchester Battlefield Park
Our 15th Annual Footin’ for Animals is running in a new direction with the Third Winchester Battlefield Park providing the race this year! The Battlefield is rich with history that goes all the way back to the Civil War when the Confederacy lost a costly battle that resulted in over 8,000 casualties, leading to the end of resistance in the Valley. Their 160th anniversary is quickly approaching on the 19th of September. Over 30 monuments and markers adorn the 6-mile trail telling the tale of that day.
The Trail measures over 3 miles and is located adjacent to Millbrook High School who have been very generous in letting us use their parking lot for the day. The Trail is mostly flatland but includes a diverse variety of surfaces from grass and dirt to gravel and stone.
We hope you will join us at this new location to welcome the fall weather with your friends, family, and animal companions. To be extra festive, we encourage you and your animals to wear costumes. The hike will be held from 10 a.m. on October 26th (rain or shine) at 251 First Woods Dr, Winchester, VA 22603. The early registration fee is $30 (that includes an event t-shirt and light refreshments). If registering after 10/6, the fee is $35 (an event t-shirt cannot be guaranteed).
