Every year, a countless number of children are bitten by man’s best friend. Many times these bites could have been avoided by educating children on how to interact with dogs and other animals around them. Reminding children that animals are sentient beings who express their feelings with their bodies is imperative in order for them to determine whether or not their pets feel like being played with or touched. As responsible pet owners, it is our job to monitor the interactions between our children and pets in order to keep them safe.
To reduce the risk of a bite, help your children learn to practice PLEASE when meeting a new dog. Practicing these important steps will help to foster an enjoyable and safe environment so that your children and pets can create lasting memories!
