Paws Up!

To the New York State Senate for passing S2936, also known as Kirby and Quigley’s Law.

When you are a victim of a crime, you may experience many fluctuating emotions. Now imagine the utter anguish you would experience if a crime were committed against you and your precious companion animal. One family experienced such devastation after their dogs, Kirby and Quigley, were killed by intruders during a home invasion.

According to a recent news article, “Kirby and Quigley’s Law” will, if passed, add extra penalties to perpetrators of crimes like these. A1596 sponsored by Assemblymember James Tedisco (R) and S2936, sponsored by Senator Phil Boyle (R) would subject anyone who kills an animal during the commission of a felony to a $5,000 fine and a possible prison sentence of up to two years for the attack on the animal alone.

Take Action: New York residents, contact your assemblymember to express your support for Kirby and Quigley’s Law to be passed. Non-residents, support legislation in your area that will protect companion animals from cruelty.
