Tina Kotek, the Governor of Oregon, signed two bills in July and August of 2023. Both of these bills give added protection to animals in the state. The Governor signed H.B. 2915, which prohibits pet retail stores from selling cats or dogs. She also signed H.B. 3213, placing a ban on the sale of animal-tested cosmetics in the state. Both of these bills will go into effect on September 24, 2023.

With Oregon now prohibiting the sale of cats and dogs in their pet retail stores, this helps to cut down on puppy mills in the state. This new law would affect any pet retail store that sells pet food, supplies, or accessories. Oregon becomes the seventh state to pass this ban. The other states that have passed similar laws are California, Illinois, Maryland, Maine, New York, and Washington.

Oregon becomes the eleventh state to ban the sale of cosmetics tested on animals. States that have passed similar laws are California, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, and Virginia. Cosmetics refers to anything rubbed on, poured, sprinkled, sprayed, or applied to the body. This bill gives cruelty-free cosmetics a chance to get the praise they deserve.

These bills going into effect will dramatically improve animal welfare in Oregon. H.B. 2915 will end inhumane treatment at puppy mills and encourage the option for adoption. H.B. 3213 will stop pointless animal testing on countless beauty products and ensure fewer animals are in labs. Governor Tina Kotek has considerably reduced animal suffering in her state with just a few signatures.

Why can’t all states do this? Kudos to Gov. Kotek. And speaking of such, get this: the disgusting Marshall Bioresources (315)587-2295 raises dogs (primarily beagles) to be literally sold to die in insideous experiments and animal “research*. They do their foul deeds worldwide. All about $$$, of course. O often call to give ’em HELL.
