When we first met Freya, she had just given birth to five beautiful puppies. Even though she was severely emaciated and had so little to give, her love for her babies was stronger than anything else. Every ounce of strength she had went to her little family. Her puppies were healthy and happy, a living testament to the sacrifices she made for them. Freya’s heart was always with her pups, making sure they had everything they needed, even when she had nothing left for herself.
Watching Freya heal with us has been a gift. Her gentle spirit shines through in everything she does. She greets each person with a soft tail wag and a patient, hopeful look, as if she’s always ready to make a new friend. There’s something so touching about the way she waits for a treat, mouth open just a little, trusting you completely. And when it’s time to play, she lights up, tossing her toys around or enjoying a peaceful walk by our side. Freya’s joy is simple and pure, and she reminds us every day why we do this work.
Freya’s path has been anything but easy. The scars she carries tell us stories she can’t put into words, and now she faces another hurdle with her heartworm diagnosis. But if there’s one thing Freya has shown us, it’s resilience. She’s growing stronger every day, finally holding onto a healthy weight, and soon she’ll start her heartworm treatment. Through every challenge, Freya’s gentle, loving nature never fades. She inspires us with her courage and her unwavering hope.
We may never know the full story of what Freya has been through, but we are here to make sure her future is bright. Every day, she gets a little closer to being healthy and whole, and we believe she’s ready for a family who will love her as deeply as she loves. While Freya goes through her heartworm treatment, she’ll be available as a Foster-To-Adopt. We’ll cover all her needs—medical care, food, and anything else she might require. All we ask is that you give her the love and comfort she’s been waiting for, and bring her to us for her treatments. We’ll be with you every step of the way, supporting both you and Freya as she heals.
Freya reminds us every day of the power of a mother’s love and the incredible strength that lives in every dog who walks through our doors.
If you feel a connection to Freya’s story and want to meet her or learn more about fostering to adopt, please reach out to us or fill out an application on our website. We’re always here to answer your questions and would love to introduce you to this special girl. Together, we can help Freya find the loving home she’s been waiting for.
We are also excited to announce that Freya’s puppies are all beginning to find loving homes of their own!
Additionally, we’ve noticed that Freya may be sensitive to the sun, which is often seen in short-haired, white-coated breeds. It may also be related to allergies, so maintaining a sensitive skin diet will be beneficial. A sensitive skin diet typically includes foods with limited ingredients and novel proteins, and avoids common allergens such as beef, chicken, or grains. Salmon-based, fish-based, or specially formulated sensitive skin kibble can be good options to help support her coat and minimize irritation. To help keep her comfortable, we recommend limiting her sun exposure during the middle of the day, when the sun is strongest, and doing longer outings in the mornings and evenings.
