Giving Tuesday
#GivingTuesday is an international movement created to encourage giving back during the busy holiday season. On the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year, people across the world are encouraged to help the charities and causes nearest and dearest to their hearts.
At the National Humane Education Society, we’ve been presented with an amazing opportunity to rescue, care for, and find forever homes for even more animals through a special Matching Gift Challenge! Our dear friends at the Gerald B. Shreiber Foundation are animal lovers just like you and me. In fact, Mr. Shreiber—who has had many rescued animals of his own—has graciously supported our work for more than 20 years … and he has offered to match any donation you’re able to make, dollar for dollar, up to $20,000!

By donating, you’ll help us rescue and protect animals like Fritz—a small terrier mix who was found on an isolated mountain road in the middle of winter.
Fritz got to us just in time. Weighing just 12 pounds, he was severely malnourished and debilitated by parasites. Fritz was found dragging a heavy frozen horse lead with a large clamp. He had clearly been confined for a long period of time. During this confinement, he spent many hours lying on the hard ground, which had caused pressure sores all over his tiny body. And after years of neglect, his dental hygiene was so bad that our veterinarian had to extract 22 of his teeth.
Nursing Fritz back to health was no easy task. But, after a couple of months in our care, he gained weight, his energy increased, and his sweet and happy personality emerged.
