Tucker’s journey to us began when a compassionate individual witnessed his neglect and took action to stop it by persuading his former owners to surrender him. Thanks to your support, Tucker had a second chance the moment he came through our doors. Tucker’s body was racked with pain—his skin was filled with mites causing severe hair loss and unrelenting discomfort; his toenails were grossly overgrown and disfigured, causing crippling pain in his paws with each step he took, and his decaying teeth and inflamed gums filled his mouth with still more pain.

The Board of Directors of NHES—Tina, Anne, Margaret, Cindy, Kelly, Jim, Ernest, and I—and one dear friend, Christine, have joined together to make this year’s $20,000 Matching Gift Challenge. Every donation you make between now until December 31, 2025, will be matched dollar for dollar— up to $20,000. That means twice the impact—twice the medicine, love, and care for animals like Tucker in urgent need of rescue and rehabilitation.
