Update: Kirby and Quigley’s Law Reintroduced in New York - National Humane Education Society

May 6, 2021

Paws Up!

To New York Assemblymember Angelo Santabarbara and Senator James Tedisco for sponsoring Kirby and Quigley’s Law to penalize those who commit crimes against animals during a felony.

In 2016, a family in New York came home to the unthinkable⚊their beloved canine companions, Kirby and Quigley, were heartlessly killed during a home invasion. That sorrowful moment brought about the introduction of Kirby and Quigley’s Law to ensure individuals who commit such cruel acts will not go unpunished. Sadly, despite tremendous support from the public, Kirby and Quigley’s Law continues to fail. This year, Kirby and Quigley’s Law has been reintroduced by Assemblymember Angelo Santabarbara (D-District 111) with A1633 and Senator James Tedisco (R-District 49) with S197. If passed, Kirby and Quigley’s Law will make harming an animal while engaging in or fleeing from a felony offense an aggravated animal cruelty crime.

Take Action: New York residents, please continue to show your support for the passage of Kirby and Quigley’s Law by contacting your senator or assemblymember today!
